Dear Ms. ‘Type A’, 😉

Your advice is perfect! It will serve you well! I love how you sent links to all of your tips! We all thank you!

My sister and I were just discussing our needs for new tote bags, and this one you use is pricey but just what we’re looking for! We use the same tips as you for several of your top ten, but I found more that just the tote from your list that I found very helpful!

I’m so excited for you and this new adventure you are embarking on! How exciting! You amaze me! Enjoy!

Thank you! The Air Tags are coming in handy right now! More on the delayed flight + delayed luggage to come.

Things don’t feel quite as easy to accomplish unless things in the space have a place….loved this one, enjoy your trip!! Post pictures.

I couldn’t agree more. Thank you. Photos to come. 🙏

I travel for work and have checklists for what to grab & what food to buy. Takes a ton of the stress off.

Ease is the prize!

I love the idea that the work we do now becomes a kindness to our future selves. The labels may look small, but they’re really little acts of care. The shopping list made me laugh. I was fully invested in the philosophy and suddenly found myself buying packing cubes. 😄 X

Your future self is already jumping up and down with excitement. She feels epically at ease thinking of future travels.

She absolutely is. Meanwhile, present-day me is still searching for her glasses, wondering if she made a cup of tea and admiring your labels from afar. X

Check the top of your head. That’s usually where I find my lost glasses.

“Front-loaded effort for future ease” is such a good description of the part of organization that people often misread. The label maker is funny on the surface, but underneath it is care for a future self who may be tired, disoriented, far from home, or simply trying to move through the day with less friction. I especially loved the way you refused to apologize for that wiring, because what looks excessive to one person can become steadiness, hospitality, and peace of mind for another. Thank you, Leslie, for making room for the square path and showing how much grace can live inside a well-labeled bag.

There is so much room in a well labeled bag!

I wouldn't worry too much about labeling your label preferences. Perhaps this quote from Flaubert might reassure you that you're on the right track:

“Be regular and orderly in your life, so that you may be violent and original in your work.”

Bon Voyage!

You’re right… I just labeled my labeling. I need treatment. Love the quote.

Labels for the win! I, too, must label everything. Sometimes even my kids. 😉

We must have acquired this skill from some infamous teacher along the way. I excel at it.

This is fab advice. You and I don’t share the penchant for organizing so I appreciate the glimpse into how you do it so I can learn some things!!!

It is my flex for sure. You should see my pantry. It’s next level organized.

Sasha Brown-Worsham's avatar

I would like to see it.

I’ll have to do a whole pantry edit. I am embarrassingly proud.
