It helps take me from “I’m not an expert on anything what do I have to offer?” To “what have I learned that I would have loved to be told/shown?” And just acknowledging that expert or not, my perspective on any given event or experience is going to be different than the next person’s and therefore potentially helpful to someone.
This is a great reminder that what differentiates our writing and what we have to offer from others is our unique perspectives and experiences. No two people will ever have the exact same perspective because we've all lived them through different lenses.
