This is so timely for me. I love how you shared this story. I have an essay I’ve been grappling with that centers around a lifelong friendship coming to an end. I’ve been struggling with how to share about it without bringing attention to it or calling it out explicitly. This is beautiful. And I realize maybe I don’t need to share it at all. 🖤
I find it’s the hardest kind of loss to share. My husband passed away unexpectedly. That loss is something I can write about. Friendship loss carries a different kind of grief and even shame. It’s not easy to put into words. I understand your struggle. 🙏
I love this. I’ve started to think of a lot of friendships as seasonal. We grow so much and change over our lifetimes it only makes sense. Love them and honor what made sense at the time and let them go.
I love this perspective. Honoring what made sense at the time without needing to erase it simply because it no longer does. There’s a lot of grace in that.
It really can be. I think so many of us have experienced it, yet we rarely talk about how difficult it can be. Thank you for reading and sharing that you’ve been there too.
