"If it's hysterical, it's historical" is going straight into my notes. I think about how often I've decided who someone is within minutes, based on something that actually belongs to me, not them. That moment of walking up to her and saying it out loud takes real groundedness.
Such a great perspective and good reminder that sometimes that story in our head, the things we assume are not always correct and it’s good to take a breath and question them. So impressed with your honesty and vulnerability to tell her how you really felt. This post was the perfect read for me to start my day with an open mind and a fresh perspective. 🦋
Leslie, when you said, "Once we slap a judgment on someone, we tend to defend our position," it really made me think. I can spend a lot of energy finding reasons to support an opinion I formed in just thirty seconds. Kudos for giving her another chance and explaining your reasons.
I felt as though you were really reaching out to me personally on this one. Every point you made resonated with me. I’m going to revisit this article many times to continually remind myself of my ongoing goal to become a truly more gracious, more accountable and happier soul. Thank you.
If you’ve come this far, thank you. 🙏
I read every comment. I take them all to heart and sometimes too personally, but that’s a whole other unwinding.
If you leave a comment, you can count on a response.
I love being a part of and creating community. And I do consider this exactly that.
So welcome!

I’ve never been more grateful for that moment either. She’s truly a remarkable person and amazing new and dear friend. I
am really trying to flex this muscle. I am sure I’ve missed out on som many other opportunities because I was in judgement. 😔
Thank you for sharing. I always look forward to your comments and am grateful you’re here.

Thanks, Dana! It’s human nature to judge. It only took my 52 years to realize it was a me problem though. I am a constant work in progress. 😉
Indeed, me too, learning every day!! Ox
Nice Leslie. We all have narratives that we're following, some might've started as kids or as adults.
Most of the time we tend to stay in that narrative because it's comfortable and familiar
But if we challenge the narrative like you did, then you'll find out other truths you might have been blind to. .
