I think I know the article to which you are referring. I read it as well, and some of the comments, too. Your response here is so articulate, and I couldn't have said it better if I tried. There are a lot of snooty profs out there trying to discourage people from producing the art they want to produce - and for no good reason at all. My response to that is just effing write - for YOU, and if you don't give up, you'll find your people and you'll find a whole lot else, too. It is very brave to write and publish it publicly, and that should be respected and celebrated. And if you don't like the writing, fair enough, just move on and find something else to read. It's not hard!

I drafted this article a week ago with the subtitle as the title. Over the weekend I came across the other article, and I ended up rewriting the entire piece. It became fuel for something more. I am grateful to read other people’s work. It often becomes the source of inspiration for my thoughts and words. This article is certainly proof of that.
