Enjoyed this piece. I had such a similar experience from Masai Mara. How could I ever be stressed in my life when amidst all this life, death, and survival and there be so much peace everywhere. In my twenties, beauty defined me (as a fashion designer in NYC) in many ways. In my thirties I felt the unhealthy nature of that and wondered if wanting beauty meant I couldn’t be spiritual. And I feel like my forties have been so rewarding and full because I’ve accepted all the parts of myself. No boxes. Enjoyed this piece and you bringing together these two parts of ourselves.
Like Matthew, I loved where this ended. "Beauty needs space" feels true of so much more than our wardrobes. Sometimes it's only when we clear a little room that we can truly appreciate what was already there. X
Love this. Your experience looks like it was truly beautiful and I love how well you know yourself and what works for you. Keep owning it. Here’s to more adventures. Can’t wait to read the rest.

Thank you! Working on it now 🙏

Once upon a time a wise person told me:
Less is more.
Your essay reminded me of that sentiment today.
