I loved reading this as I resonate so much about my daughter . She is 20 and lives with her dad while she studies

I know that the likelihood is that our time will be what she can squeeze in and it breaks my heart that we may never have those expansive chatty days pottering about and gossiping and giggling

I also have a 27 year old, 19 year old and 13 year old (and one who departed this life - at 7) and I long to be with them and gosh sometimes I crave space to be me

Somehow around the many departures and the still at home with me one , I am also reinventing myself aged 53 and it’s a strange bittersweet epoch of nostalgia and need to be freeee!

The college drop off can feel like a door slam. It's not. Initially it will feel that way. Now that I have grown kids, I've decided that being a family over distance is simply our new way of being a family.

I love that you want to reinvent yourself. I suspect you will more than once.

Discovering a new purpose took me some trial and error, which surprised me.
